Theatre Unlimited, a San Francisco-based troupe comprised of both abled and disabled players, will be featured during the two-day Utah's Very Special Arts Festival on Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Hawthorne School, Seventh East and 17th South.
A workshop by Theatre Unlimited on Thursday at 2 p.m. will center around the theme, "Your Best Foot Forward - Be All That You Can Be." Using techniques developed by Theatre Unlimited, the workshop will offer tools designed to spontaneously elicit the natural creative performing abilities of all participants, disabled and non-disabled.The workshop will explore theater-making skills and let participants enjoy learning how to share the unique acting, dancing and performing talents of all individuals.
Also featured during the festival, will be a Theatre Unlimited performance of Ron Jones' "Willard Joins the Army," narrated by the playwright. With touches of Keystone Kops-style comedy, Jones' play also present a serious message in which the army learns lessons of courage, kindness and honor.
Performances are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday and at 1 p.m. on Friday, during the awards luncheon.
Opening ceremonies on Thursday at 11 a.m. will feature the Salt Shakers and the Matt Flinner Trio.
