People attending commencement ceremonies at Brigham Young University on April 28 may encounter traffic problems because of the construction on University Avenue in south Provo, the Utah Department of Transportation warns.
Although the construction zone will only extend from Fifth South to the Second South intersection at that time, it could cause significant traffic interference. Those who would normally use the University Avenue exits to get to BYU are advised to instead use either the Center Street exit in Provo or the 12th South exit in Orem.
If you do plan on using University Avenue, leave early. The detour, which begins at Fifth South, will take traffic to Freedom Boulevard (Second West), then back onto University Avenue at First South.
Visitors will still have access to the businesses on University Avenue, including motels and restaurants.
