The Mineralogical Society of Utah is sponsoring its 50th anniversary Gem and Mineral Show April 21-24 at the Murray National Guard Armory, 5189 S. State, Murray. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free, with door prizes, exhibits, educational materials and jewelry available.
(BU) The Utah Mineralogical Society was founded in 1939 by Olive McHugh. It sponsors gem shows and field trips for members and provides earth sciences scholarships at the University of Utah.Membership fees are $7 per couple and $4.50 for individuals and include the monthly bulletin, "Mineral Scoop." An information packet is printed for each field trip, listing equipment required, special instructions and rendezvous points.
The society is affiliated with the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies, the Rocky Mountain Federation of Mineralogical Societies and the Utah Federation of Gem and Mineralogical Societies.
