The third annual Utah Very Special Arts Festival will take place at Hawthorne Elementary School, Seventh East and 17th South, April 27 and 28, with activities from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. The public will be welcome free of charge.

The festival will showcase the variety of arts participation by those with disabilities. The event will feature lecture demonstrations, performances and exhibits from all the major arts, celebrating the place of the arts in the lives of all people.A headliner at the festival will be Theatre Unlimited from San Francisco, some of whose members are developmentally disabled adults. The company will present a workshop at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 27, and performances at 10 a.m. and at the awards luncheon at 1 p.m. Friday, April 18. (Luncheon tickets are $10.)

Among activities offered will be dancing, visual arts exhibits, puppetry, Words in Motion, performers from Neighborhood House, the Sunrise Dancers and workshops in batik, visual arts, storytelling, photography and percussion. The Children's Dance Theatre will perform.

The festival is sponsored by Very Special Arts Utah, with further sponsorship by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Utah Arts Council and Coca-Cola.
