Utah Jazz general manager and former head coach Frank Layden accepts jersey #1 _ retired in honor of him _ during half-time festivities Saturday night at the Salt Palace. The ebullient Layden, flanked by his wife, Barbara, and Jazz owner Larry Miller, was also presented with a grandfather clock. After an emotional flag-raising, which displayed a "Number One" pennant with one bearing Layden's name, he declared, "The name on the flag is Layden, but the number one is you, it's you _ the fans . . . the greatest fans in the NBA." Thurl Bailey scored 24 points as the Jazz ran past Golden State 111-95 in the final regular season game. Even without Malone, the Jazz had little trouble with the Warriors as they posted a franchise-high 51 wins.
