BYU broke seventh inning ties with one out in both its 8-7 and 18-17 victories over Southern Utah State on Wednesday.

In the nitecap, All-America Paul Cluff came in as a pinch hitter and hit the first pitch to right field for a double to drive in for the winning run.Each team had a torrid sixth inning in the second game, with SUSC getting eight runs on five hits and a grand slam home run by Eric Godfrey. BYU countered with nine runs from eight hits, including a solo homer by Ed Chatterley, a three-run homer by Gary Miner and a two-run homer by Burt Call.
