Three days after the incident, it remains unclear whether New York Yankees manager Billy Martin was a victim or an instigator.

Martin has claimed he was attacked by several men at Lace, a topless bar in Arlington, Texas, on Friday night. A witness, Fort Worth resident Keith Morrow, said Martin threw a punch at another man before being ushered out of the bar, according to the Dallas Times Herald. An employee of the bar where Martin suffered a cut in front of his left ear that required 40 stitches, deep bruises on the knee, shoulder and forehead, said the Yankees' manager slipped and fell against a wall, according to both Newsday and the Times Herald.

Newsday also reported today that Commissioner Peter Ueberroth met with Martin in spring training because of concern about Martin's drinking. But the newspaper said Ueberroth does not plan any investigation of last Friday's incident.
