Firefighters were containing and cleaning up 600 to 800 gallons of a highly flammable petroleum product early Tuesday following vandalism at Petroleum Processors, 5000 N. West Geneva Road.

Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Craig Turner said an individual was chased off the property about 2 a.m. after a control valve between a loading manifold and a full tanker truck was opened, causing a petroleum product called BTX to be released onto the ground.Utah County deputy sheriffs, Pleasant Grove police and Orem police responded to the incident. A 25-year-old Orem man and a 34-year-old Provo man were stopped and arrested as they were driving away from the plant. They were booked into Utah County Jail.

The area around the plant was closed off Tuesday morning for several hours because of heavy vapors from the spill.
