Israeli soldiers Monday shot and killed a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy in clashes with stone-throwing Palestinian protesters, Arab hospital officials said.

The teenagers both died in violence in the occupied territories stemming from funerals for victims of earlier clashes. The girl was killed in the occupied West Bank, the boy in the occupied Gaza Strip. The boy was shot as Palestinians threw stones and set fires during a funeral for a 50-year-old man from the Gaza Strip who died earlier in the day of a reported beating March 27 by Israeli soldiers.

The army confirmed the death of the man without giving its cause.

Arab reports also said six Palestinians were wounded during Monday's clashes. The victims included a 9-year-old boy shot in the leg at the Faraa refugee camp in the West Bank, the reports said.

With Monday's deaths, 438 Palestinians have been killed in the 16-month Palestinian uprising.

Monday's killing in the West Bank occurred at the Dheishe refugee camp outside Bethlehem, where several hundred angry youths, some carrying outlawed PLO flags, burned tires and stoned Israeli cars at the end of a burial ceremony. They were mourning a 17-year-old killed Sunday in a clash with soldiers.
