In a ceremony that combined traditional religious pageantry and Native American dancing, the Rev. Tod D. Brown was recently ordained and installed as the sixth bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Boise.

Bishop Brown, 52, succeeds Bishop Sylvester Treinen as the spiritual leader of the state's 75,000 Catholics.Thousands of the faithful and well-wishers joined Catholic leaders from throughout the West in the ceremony at the Boise State University Pavilion.

Bishop Brown was ordained by Archbishop William J. Levada of the Archdiocese of Portland, Ore.
