A city judge Wednesday ordered a Utah truck driver held without bond for trial in the slaying of a Flagstaff teen.

Robert Casey, 47, of Ogden, Utah, appeared before Justice of the Peace James Sedillo and was charged with one count of first-degree murder in the November 1988 bludgeoning death of 14-year-old James Lee Haney. The youth was killed while he was out collecting aluminum cans. His body was found under blankets in an abandoned transient camp.

Authorities in Box Elder County, Utah, arrested Casey about two weeks after the Haney slaying. Casey fought extradition and was not returned to Flagstaff until Tuesday. In the meantime, he had been convicted of arson in Ogden, said Coconino County sheriff's Lt. Jack Judd.

Casey apparently suffered a stroke after his conviction in Weber County.
