A federal lawsuit purportedly filed by the Alliance for Human Dignity on behalf of homeless people wasn't authorized by the group, says the alliance's director.

Jeff Fox, who heads the alliance - an organization sponsored by the Crossroads Urban Center - said the suit was filed by a man who had been studying law books and was concerned about the rule that people must leave Salt Lake's new homeless shelter after a 90-day stay."While I was out of town he took the prerogative of filing a lawsuit," Fox said. The suit says the 90-day limitation is unfair and unconstitutional, and asks for $25,000 damages as well as a restraining order.
