When Weber High School took its first crack at the fledgling Sterling Scholars program in 1963, Marilyn Larson was a finalist in English and James H. Huefner was a finalist in mathematics. In due time, Miss Larson became Mrs. Huefner and the couple started raising little Sterling Scholars of their own. Wednesday, the Huefners were on hand to cheer on daughter Hillary, a finalist following in her mother's footsteps in English. "We got out our portfolios and laughed at the comparison," Mrs. Heufner said. "Mine was just a few things in a folder."
