Alwin Nikolais will deliver the sixth annual David Pierpont Gardner graduate lecture in the humanities and fine arts, on April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Utah Museum of Fine Arts auditorium. Admission is free,
and the public is welcome.As choreographer, composer (especially for electronic media) scenic and costume designer and lighting expert, Nikolais has blended his many talents into a single aesthetic force.
He is the founder of the acclaimed and widely toured Nikolais Dance Theatre, and responsible for its many exciting choreographies. In a career that has spanned five decades, he has ranged from Broadway to television, leaving his imprint on every theatrical medium. Nikolais' many awards include Kennedy Center Honors and the U.S. National Medal of the Arts, both in 1987.
