California struggled with the Mediterranean fruit fly, and now Salt Lake City's Mount Olympus Cove area is battling the gypsy moth. State entomologist Ed Bianco, left, and state pesticide specialist Joe Beckstrand posted quarantine signs along Wasatch Boulevard near 33rd South Tuesday, warning residents of precautions they must take to prevent the spread of the pest. The quarantine prevents area residents from taking their boats, campers, camping gear, plants and other items out of the area without an inspection. Officials plan to spray when conditions are right and contracting details are completed.
