Two men have been arrested on suspicion of counterfeiting, and U.S. Secret Service agents have confiscated $222,000 in bogus $20 bills in Bountiful and another $170,000 in Los Angeles.
U.S. Secret Service Agent Steven M. Zimney said Monday that five pieces of equipment, as well as fake bills, were seized at Gateway Printing, 545 W. Sixth South, Bountiful. The equipment included an offset press, a camera, a printing plate maker, a light table and a cutting machine that agents believe were used to manufacture counterfeit bills. An undercover investigation began in March, Zimney said. Bountiful City police detectives helped in the arrest.
