A Claude Monet sketch titled "Two Women in a Boat," missing from Brigham Young University's art collection for nearly two decades, has been returned to the university, a spokesman says.

The pencil sketch, valued at between $100,000 and $250,000, was one of more than 1,000 art works worth some $3 million found to be missing when the school's 12,000-piece collection was inventoried in 1986.University police recovered the sketch, also known as "The Boat Ride," from an unidentified collector in New York City, school spokesman Brent Harker said Thursday. The collector voluntarily relinquished the piece, which had been purchased from an auction house.
