A free gold-prospecting seminar sponsored by the Gold Prospectors Association of America will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. April 11 at the Airport Inn, 2333 W. North Temple.

The association's national president, George Massie, also known as Buzzard and one of the world's foremost experts on practical gold mining, will be the featured speaker.Also speaking will be Jake Hartwick, an expert on electronic prospecting with metal detectors, and Gene Brooks, a mining engineer.

Those attending the seminar will learn about places to go near Salt Lake City to find gold on weekends or vacations. There will be live demonstrations of gold panning and the use of sluices and dredges and instructions on how to recover extremely fine gold from black sand.

New Bureau of Land Management rules and regulations will be discussed, and there will be a discussion of a new gold rush to Alaska.
