Salt Lake police are investigating the theft of three sets of bronze doors valued at $1,600 that were once part of the Centre Theatre, Third South and State. The theater is being demolished to make way for a new high-rise building.
George Zeniezelos, an employee of the company handling salvage at the site, said a man approached a work crew about 11:30 a.m. April 3 and told them he had purchased the doors. The man then loaded the doors in a truck and left. Workers later learned that the doors had not been sold and reported the incident to police.
