Two men who claim to have witnessed the fracas involving New York Yankees Manager Billy Martin at a topless club here say that Martin was injured when he fell outside the building and was not beaten in the restroom, as Martin claims. An employee of the bar in which Martin was involved in an incident early Saturday said that he witnessed the incident and that the only punch thrown was by Martin. In addition, the employee said, Martin's injuries were strictly the result of Martin losing his footing outside the club and falling against a wall.

The employee, who asked not to be identified, said that he walked into the restroom at Lace, a topless bar, shortly after Martin and heard Martin and another man engaged in an argument. According to the employee, Martin threw a punch at the man, hitting the man's jaw but not drawing blood or knocking the man down.

The employee said that he and another man - a patron of the bar who also was in the restroom at the time - then restrained Martin and hustled him out a side door of the club, where Martin lost his footing and fell against a rough, stucco wall.
