Tehran said on the ninth anniversary of the severance of U.S.-Iranian ties that a resumption of relations with Washington may be possible under certain conditions.

Tehran radio said in a commentary Sunday that the United States has "gradually sought to resume diplomatic relations with Islamic Iran," but ties would "not be practical" until hostility between the two countries "is set aside."The broadcast, monitored in Athens, did not say when Washington made moves to resume ties with Iran, but diplomatic sources inside and outside Iran have reported that Tehran and Washington made secret contacts, through third countries, over the past year.
