A community leader in Los Angeles wants to organize a form of Olympics for gang members to curtail violence that often occurs during summer.

"We want to take the Uzis and AK-47s out of the hands of the young members of our community and put shot puts and javelins in their place," the Rev. Charles Mims said.The games are to include academic as well as athletic events and will be open to contestants aged 12 to 18, said Mims.
