An editorial from Scripps Howard News ServiceLet's see if we've got this straight.

Baseball's old strike zone was between the top of the knees and the armpits.

The new strike zone is between the top of the knees and a point halfway between the top of the uniform pants and the top of the shoulders, which is somewhere around midchest.

The new strike zone is smaller, although the rules committee that designed it said the intent was to enlarge it.

In any event, a strike will still be what the umpire calls it. Is that clear?
