Rep. Jim Hansen, R-Utah, doesn't mind President Bush sending Army soldiers to help clean up the Alaskan oil spill - but he doesn't want the Army stuck with the bill for it.
Hansen said Friday, "As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I am well aware of the Army's budget. It doesn't have any excess cash lying around to pick up the tab for Exxon."To slap it with a whopping bill like this would be wrong, and I intend to ask for a full accounting from the White House."
About the cleanup, which is estimated to cost $1 million a day, Hansen said, "I would not want to see the American taxpayer saddled with millions of dollars in bills because of mistakes made by Exxon."
