The number of contracts for future construction reported in February for Salt Lake, Davis and Weber counties totaled $18.8 million, a 66 percent decline from the $55.5 million in contracts reported in the same month a year ago, according to the F. W. Dodge Group of McGraw-Hill Information Services Co.
The report said the number of contracts for construction of non-residential buildings in February totaled $6 million, an 84 percent decrease from the $37.7 million of February 1988. The number of contracts for residential building totaled $12.8 million, a 28 percent decrease from the $17.7 million of a year ago.In the first two months of 1988, building contracts totaled $43.4 million, a 54 percent decrease from the $93.7 million in the comparable period a year ago. Non-residential building contracts totaled $15.7 million, a 75 percent decrease from the $62.2 million of a year ago.
Residential building in the two-month period totaled $27.7 million, a 12 percent decline from the $31.4 million of a year ago.
