The owner of an Orem video store has been formally charged with four counts of distributing pornographic material.
Mark Greer of the Video Station will be required to make his first appearance in 4th Circuit Court on April 20. He will be advised of his legal rights and bail will be set or waived, a court clerk said Wednesday.Orem police confiscated 51 "questionable" videos from the shop on March 28, said Detective Gerald Nielsen, department spokesman. An off-duty officer had previously noticed a seemingly inappropriate video, which was taken to a 4th Circuit Court judge, and officers returned with a warrant.
Distributing pornographic videos violates a state statute, Nielsen said. Upon conviction, each class-A misdemeanor is punishable with up to a one-year jail sentence and payment of a $2,500 fine.
