The Salt Lake Chapter of the National Conference of Christians and Jews will present its annual Brotherhood and Sisterhood Award to Jon and Karen Huntsman.
They will be honored at the chapter's annual banquet at 7 p.m. May 4 in the Salt Lake Little America Grand Ballroom.Rabbi Joseph Hurwitz, of Temple Isaiah, Palm Springs, Calif., will keynote the awards dinner.
"Jon and Karen Huntsman have been at the forefront of many worthy cultural and humanitarian causes," said Wendell J. Ashton, banquet chairman. "They have been real leaders in making our state a better place."
Jon Huntsman is chairman and chief executive officer of Huntsman Chemical and a former candidate for governor. He is vice president of the United States Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Wharton School of Finance Board of Overseers and a trustee for the University of Pennsylvania.
He is a former assistant to the president and former chairman of the Utah Symphony Board.
Karen Haight Huntsman is a member of the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Governors and a director of KUED, Intermountain Health Care and Utah Special Olympics. She is an advisory member of the Utah Olympics Planning Committee and has been active in mental-health programs in Washington, D.C., and Utah.
The National Conference of Christians and Jews is a national human relations organization of people from different religious, racial and ethnic backgrounds.
