Moslem guerrillas Thursday ignored a cease-fire declared by the government and fired missiles and rockets at Kabul and three other cities, witnesses and the government said.
A missile blew up a fuel truck parked near a petroleum tank depot on the northern edge of Kabul. Several trucks parked nearby also exploded.A cloud of black smoke, visible over the city of 2 million, drifted from the site. There was no immediate word on casualties.
An Afghan truck driver who said he was part of a convoy hauling fuel down the Salang Highway from Hayratan, on the Soviet border, said guerrillas tried to hijack some of the trucks a few miles north of Kabul.
The driver, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the hijackers got about a mile before they were attacked by two government helicopters.
