Directing a movie is even more rewarding than commanding the Starship Enterprise for William Shatner.

"It is the ultimate act of creativity," says Shatner, who directs, as well as stars as Capt. Kirk, in the upcoming "Star Trek 5." "It's the end result of everything I wanted to do. And to see it all come alive is beyond my ability to verbalize how thrilling it is. To my mind this is the culmination of my professional life. I feel a sense of great accomplishment."Shatner had a $32 million budget - the largest for the "Trek" films - and he occasionally asked Leonard "Spock" Nimoy, who directed two movies in the series, for advice.

"Leonard was the kindest and most giving actor I ever worked with," Shatner said. "He also egged me on."
