Actor Robert Redford arrived in the Soviet Union on Saturday for a 10-day tour to attend showings of his films and meet film audiences in three cities, Tass said.

Redford arrived in Leningrad, where the country's largest movie theater was showing a selection of his films including "All the President's Men," "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," "The Natural" and his new work "The Milagro Beanfield War."Iosif Kheifitz, head of the Leningrad cinematographers organization, told the official Soviet news agency that Redford's visit would "give us an opportunity to develop the contacts we've shaped" by watching Redford's films.

Redford will be in Moscow on Tuesday to open a festival of his films in the Soviet capital.
