A branch of Valley Bank, 3020 S. Highland Drive, was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money by a man who said he had a handgun inside a red backpack, according to Salt Lake County sheriff's reports.

The man, between 35 and 40, entered the bank Thursday wearing a beige stocking cap, green plaid shirt and mirrored sunglasses. He approached a teller and said, "I have a gun. This is a holdup."The teller thought he was kidding, but the bandit then said, "I'm serious, this is a holdup. Give me all of your money."

The teller took money from her till, and the bandit scooped it into his red backpack. He then left on foot, deputies said.
