A minor earthquake occurred Monday evening in Emery County in east-central Utah, the University of Utah Seismograph Station said.

The Emery County sheriff's office said it had received no calls about the quake.Senior Staff Seismologist Sue Nava of the seismograph station in Salt Lake City said the quake at 9:06 p.m. measured 2.8 on the Richter scale and the epicenter was 33 miles south of Price.

She said this was the same area as a magnitude 5.3 quake last Aug. 14.
