Catherine Eyring Edwards of Provo has been elected president of the Brigham Young University Emeritus Club, succeeding Judge A. Sherman Christensen.

The 4,500-member club is made up of people who were students at BYU more than 50 years ago and of retired faculty members. At the recent annual meeting, the Class of 1939 was inducted and 10 members received the Special Recognition Award for lives of outstanding achievement.Edwards is the wife of William F. Edwards, former vice president and dean of the College of Business at BYU. In 1928, he was president and she was vice president of the BYU senior class. She majored in clothing and textiles and English. They married the following year.

In 1976, they received the Joseph F. Smith Family Living Award at BYU.

Mrs. Edwards served on the Children's Committee of the LDS Church Correlation Committee and was a member of the Primary General Board for 10 years, from 1960 to 1970.

The Edwards have six children, all university graduates, and 41 grandchildren.
