Auditions are scheduled this week for "Little Shop of Horrors" at Lagoon Opera House, a drama in Park City and a Cole Porter musical in Perry.
- "LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS" will be presented during the summer season at Lagoon Opera House, under the auspices of JPB International Events of Bountiful.Producer Jeffrey P. Belnap said the auditions will be Friday and Saturday at Salt Lake Acting Company, 168 W. Fifth North, Salt Lake City.
(The show is not being produced by SLAC, although it is being directed by Edward J. Gryska, SLAC artistic director, who directed the regional premiere of the off-the-wall musical three years ago.)
The auditions will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday.
All roles are open, including the leading parts and a variety of supporting roles: Seymore, Audrey, Audrey II's operator, the Dentist (a multiple-part role), Mushnik, the voice of Audrey II and three chorus girls.
Belnap said the company is looking for strong singers, especially a deep male gospel-type voice for Audrey II.
Auditioners should be prepared with excerpts of a ballad and an upbeat tune. They'll also be asked to read from a script. An accompanist will be provided. Dance attire will not be necessary.
Belnap said all performers, staff and musicians will be compensated. Positions are also available for stage managers, lighting designer, musicians (keyboard, bass, guitar, synthesizer, percussion) and other staff workers. Contact Belnap at 292-6429 for an appointment.
Playdates for "Little Shop of Horrors" are tentatively scheduled for June 21-Sept. 2 (Wednesdays through Saturdays), with rehearsals beginning May 25 and continuing six days a week until the opening.
- PARK CITY PERFORMANCES will hold auditions Tuesday and Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the lobby of the Egyptian Theater for a production of David Mamet's "Glengarry Glen Ross."
There are roles for seven men between the ages of 30 and 60. The play contains explicit language. All roles are open. The play is being directed by Ed Britt, PCP artistic director.
Auditioners will be asked to read from the script.
The drama, which will be presented May 26-June 10, explores the lives of a group of men working a Chicago real estate firm.
Rehearsals will begin April 17.

- THE HERITAGE THEATRE in Perry/
Brigham City has scheduled auditions at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday at the theater, 2505 S. U.S. 89, Perry, for its June 2-24 production of "Kiss Me, Kate."
Director Matt Yates of Ogden said that roles are open for both men and women. Auditioners must be at least 18 years old in appearance. All auditioners will read from the script, learn a brief dance routine and should expect to perform a song no longer than two to three minutes in length.
Those auditioning are asked to bring their own sheet music or pre-recorded tape music. An accompanist will be provided, if needed. No a capella auditions will be allowed.
The rehearsal schedule will be arranged by cast members.
