FBI officials continued their search Saturday for a man charged with a $2.52 million armored car heist in Box Elder County Thursday night.
Jared Gray, Murray, was the driver of a Wells Fargo truck en route from Boise to the Salt Lake Federal Reserve Bank.Investigators believe that while two other guards slept, the armored car was stopped at a Texaco gas station-convenience store near the Corinne-Brigham City cutoff of I-15. The thief apparently wedged a piece of wood in the door to lock the other two men inside the truck's cab, then opened the back of the truck and took the money.
Gray's brother, Farrell Gray, also of Murray, told FBI agents Friday that his brother called him about 90 minutes after the heist, said he was unharmed and was "sorry to embarrass the family."
A pickup owned by the man was found on Brigham City's Main Street at 12:30 p.m. Friday.
U.S. Magistrate Ronald N. Boyce issued an arrest warrant for Jared Gray, based on felony information filed Friday in U.S. District Court.
Gray is described as 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 220 to 230 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
