A cargo ship detained because its captain was accused of being drunk at the helm continued its journey to Japan on Monday with a new skipper.

The Coast Guard intercepted the Century Hope early Saturday after the crew accused Capt. Allen Jones, 58, of Ealing, England, of steering the ship perilously close to the harbor breakwater while under the influence of alcohol.The Coast Guard released the ship at 10 p.m. Sunday. Jones reportedly headed back to his native England. The identity of the new captain was not immediately known.
