The Los Angeles therapist credited by the Beach Boys' Brian Wilson for his recovery from drug abuse has been banned from practicing psychology in California for at least two years, state officials said.

Eugene Landy surrendered his license last week to the state Board of Medical Quality Assurance, said Suzanne Taylor, the board's management services technician.The psychologist, who had been accused of sexual misconduct with a female patient, gross negligence and other charges brought before the board, admitted to a single charge of unlawfully prescribing drugs to Wilson, the Los Angeles Times said in Saturday's editions.
