Winners of the Utah State High School Chess Tournament at Olympus High School were announced Saturday.

The tournament, held every year for the past 25 years in the spring, features competition between individual chess players and high school teams.More than 140 students competed.

Individual winners were:

First place: Jeff Phillips, Granite High School.

Second place: Young Lee, Olympus High School.

Third place: Sam Jessop, Lehi High School.

First-place team winners, listed according to classification, are:

4A - Olympus High School.

3A - Ogden High School.

2A - Lehi High School.

1A - Waterford High School.

The competition began Thursday.
