Utah motorists must remove their studded winter tires by April 15, the Utah Highway Patrol says.

"April 15 is the last day Utah motorists will be allowed to use studded snow tires this spring. Motorists may, of course, continue to use snow tires without metal studs," the UHP said.State law allows use of studded tires between Oct. 15 and April 15 each year. Motorists using the winter traction tires after April 15 and before Oct. 15 can be ticketed for a misdemeanor traffic violation, the patrol said.
