Some 180 of the state's most outstanding high school seniors face judges April 5 for the final round of judging in the Deseret News-KSL Sterling Scholar Awards program.
The young men and women, excelling in leadership, scholarship and citizenship, were selected from more than 500 nominees in preliminary competition March 22. At that time, five of the students in each category - a third of those in three regions - were selected as finalists. The final competition will be held at Skyline High School, 3251 E. 3760 South.Students will be interviewed by panels of three judges. With information found in portfolios and using information from the interviews, judges will select a winner and two runners-up.
This winners will remain confidential until they are announced during a televised ceremony from Cottonwood High School April 12. The show will be seen at 7 p.m. on KSL-TV, Channel 5.
