Two people were killed Saturday afternoon when the car they were riding in collided with a pickup truck on I-15 near Nephi.
According to a Utah Highway Patrol spokesperson, a southbound pickup was traveling at a high rate of speed when it collided with the smaller car, sending the car off the road. Both occupants were killed as the car rolled.Killed:
Kenneth D. Johnson, 71, Heber City.
Sylvia Johnson, 76, his wife.
The 1 p.m. collision also caused the pickup to cross the median and northbound lanes of traffic before it rolled into a concrete culvert. The driver of the truck was taken to Central Valley Medical Center in Nephi and then transported by helicopter to University Hospital, where he was in critical condition Saturday evening.
His identity has not been released.
