United Way of the Great Salt Lake Area directors approved a one-time special needs allocation of $10,000 for an employment and training resource center for the homeless.

An additional $1,500 was also approved for the Salt Lake AIDS Foundation and the People with AIDS Coalition of Utah to help cover the expenses of bringing the AIDS Name Quilt to Utah.Funds for a resource center were requested by the State Homeless Coordinating Committee and are available contingent on their ability to get $20,000 from four departments of state government: public education, job service, social services and economic development.
