Fifteen high school seniors were named Friday as recipients of the 1989 University Club Scholarships at Utah State University.

The awards, the most prestigious scholarships the school offers, provide payment of tuition and fees and a $700 cash stipend for four years.Recipients were selected from 437 outstanding high school seniors who came to the campus for tests during February. Winners are chosen on the basis of test results, ACT scores and grade point average.

They include eight Utahns, six Idahoans and one Oregonian.

They are:

Heidi Peterson, Sky View High School, Hyde Park; Angela Abel, Bear River High, Tremonton; Mark E. Taylor, Roy High, Roy; Gary Day of Bountiful and John Blackburn of Woods Cross, Woods Cross High; Andrew Graft, Taylorsville High, Salt Lake City; Ben McKee, Alta High, Sandy; and Anthony J. Roberts, American Fork High, American Fork.

Idaho recipients are: Catherine Crawford and Tina McGuffey, Bonneville High, Idaho Falls; David Allan Cook, Skyline High, Idaho Falls; Randy Johnson, Sugar City; Michelle Conley, Kimberly; and Jana Barrow, Declo.

Jason Gerber of Aloha, Ore., also received an award.

University Club Scholarships are valued at more than $21,000 for out-of-state students and nearly $10,000 for in-state students, depending on the number of credit hours taken.
