The Ogden-based Management and Training Corp. has received two contracts worth a total of $3.6 million from the federal government's General Services Administration to manage, operate and maintain nine federal buildings in San Antonio, Texas, and the federal buildings in Santa Ana and San Pedro, Calif.

R.L. Marquardt, company chairman and president, said each contract is for one year with options for four additional years. The contracts will add about 60 employees to the 2,200 MTC employees nationwide.MTC operates federal buildings in San Jose, Hawthorne and Van Nuys, Calif. "We are putting major emphasis on seeking opportunities for the management and operation of federal office buildings as well as large commercial buildings anywhere in the country," said Marquardt.

The company operates 15 Job Corps centers in the United States, manages and operates a correctional facility in California and has the Meridian Publishing Division in Ogden.

Marquardt also announced that Rex C. Barber, Syracuse, has been promoted to group vice president of service operations. Since 1984, Barber has been director of the service group with responsibility for facility management and corrections programs.
