Salt Lake police seized firearms, some cocaine and $24,000 Wednesday night in drug raids in West Valley City and Murray.
Three people were arrested in a "reverse sting" at an apartment at 4000 S. Redwood Road, said Lt. Ken Thirsk, of the Metropolitan Narcotics Strike Force.Undercover officers posed as drug dealers and consummated a deal in which they had agreed to sell two kilograms of cocaine for $15,000. Officers arrested Phil Parrish 32, Greg Efron, 23, and Laura Snell, 22, and seized the cash and a .45-caliber handgun, Thirsk said. The three were booked into the county jail for investigation of narcotics violations, according to jail records.
The West Valley bust netted information enabling officers to get a search warrant for an apartment at 590 E. 53rd South in Murray, where officers seized $9,000 cash and just over 4 ounces of cocaine. Police also seized numerous firearms, at least one of which had been stolen, Thirsk said.
The lieutenant said he will ask federal authorities to have the money forfeited to the strike force.
