A University of Utah meteorologist has received a special award from the American Meteorological Society, his second such award in three years.Leonard W. Snellman received the award along with Robert W. Burpee, a research scientist at the National Hurricane Center in Miami. They were cited for their efforts in launching "Weather and Forecasting," the society's newest journal and one of its most popular. The journal is published quarterly and is related to weather forecasting, verifying forecasts and adapting theoretical research to daily operations.
