The Utah Hispanic Women's Conference will be held April 8 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Salt Lake County Government Center, 2100 S. State. The keynote speaker, Rebecca Marie Gomez, serves as special assistant to the deputy director of the U.S. Department of Labor on issues of women, work and families.
A graduate of Purdue University in journalism, Gomez volunteers at Hogar Hispano, a family center where Hispanics from northern Virginia come for social, moral and educational assistance.The conference will focus on five issues: family and culture; health and safety; career, employment and finances; and developing Hispanic youth potential. The conference is sponsored by the Utah Girl Scout Council and the University of Utah minority engineering program, among others. For registration information call 486-7145.
