Carmen Castillo takes it as a compliment that the Minnesota Twins were willing to give up an established relief pitcher to get him.

"The Twins gave a pitcher away, so I guess I'm going to get more playing time there," Castillo said Sunday after the Cleveland Indians traded him to Minnesota for Keith Atherton.Castillo, 30, spent all or parts of the last seven seasons with the Indians, and he spent a lot of that time complaining about sitting on the bench.

"I never have gotten a shot here," he said. "I've been waiting for a chance, not to play every day, but to get 300 or 400 at bats."

Castillo hit .273 with four homers and 14 RBI in 66 games last year and .256 with 47 homers and 152 RBI in 464 career games.

Atherton, 30, was 7-5 with a 3.41 ERA in 49 relief appearances for Minnesota last year. The right-hander has a career mark of 33-38 with a 3.98 ERA in 310 games, all in relief.

He has 24 career saves and will work in middle relief for the Indians, setting up short relievers Doug Jones and Jesse Orosco.
