The portraits of a wide variety of personalities are on view through Sept. 5 in the "Recent Acquisitions" exhibition at the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery.
Portraits of nearly 50 distinguished Americans whose liknesses were recently acquired by the gallery are featured.Among those pictured are author Eudora Welty, actor John Barrymore, photographer Matthew Brady, writer Ezra Pound, sculptor Alexander Calder, painter John Marin and composer Igor Stravinsky.
(BU) The first major exhibition devoted to the color prints of American artist Mary Cassatt will be on show at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., June 18-Aug. 27.
"Mary Cassatt: The Color Prints" has been organized by the Williams College Museum of Art, Williamstown, Mass., in collaboration with the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and in association with the National Gallery.
The exhibition will be shown at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts Sept. 9-Nov. 5, and at the Williams College Museum of Art Nov. 24-Jan. 21, 1990.
