Dr. Suzanne Dandoy, executive director of the Utah Department of Health, will serve for two years as chairwoman of the National Vaccine Advisory Committee of the federal Department of Health and Human Services.

The 13-member committee was established by Congress to study and recommend ways to encourage the availability of an adequate supply of safe and effective vaccination products and recommends research priorities and other measures to enhance the safety and efficacy of vaccines.Dandoy has 25 years of involvement with vaccination programs, both as a public health officer and as researcher. She is chairman of the Task Force on Immunization Policy of the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials. Her administrative experience includes three years as executive director of the Utah Department of Health and five years as director of the Arizona Department of Health Services.
